Dear Family, Friends, and Fellow Supporters,
Welcome to Walk Season 4! Thank you for visiting the Reynolds Strong team page! We are joining BCAN’s mission to help END Bladder Cancer in honor and memory of my dad, Bill. He was a husband, a father, a friend, and most of all, a hero. We are participating in the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network's walk to honor my dad’s wishes to spread awareness, advocacy, and support for Bladder Cancer research.
Over the past 3 walk seasons, the Reynolds Strong team has collectively raised over $30,000 for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network! In 2019, the first FDA approved drug was released to help treat metastasized bladder cancer. This is proof that all of our efforts ARE making a positive difference for the Bladder Cancer community!
Oftentimes, bladder cancer can be a very treatable and sometimes, curable disease. However, too many people are diagnosed with bladder cancer when it has already moved to an advanced stage. My father was a healthy individual who did not have any signs or symptoms of his illness until the cancer had reached Stage 4 and metastasized. We would have never known he was sick, but he proactively sought medical attention, based on the small symptoms he eventually had. Bladder Cancer has been referred to as the 'silent' disease because it is not always detected at an early stage.
Imagine how much more could have been done for individuals in the past, or what can be done for people in the future, who are diagnosed early. Imagine a world where early detection is a reality for everyone.
We are participating in BCAN's initiative for the fourth walk season on Long Island! We couldn't be prouder. Our goals continue to be as follows: to raise awareness about bladder cancer, to advocate for individuals currently battling this disease, and to help provide hope for all of those impacted. Early detection is key to longer, healthier lives. Cancer spreads across gender, race, socioeconomic status, and zip code. We cannot escape this reality, but we can make a difference by supporting this community. Spreading awareness, raising funds, and supporting other families that have been affected by bladder cancer are some of the many reasons we are participating in BCAN's 2020 walk to END Bladder Cancer. We are asking YOU for help! Support this cause by donating to the Reynolds Strong team and/or participating at our event this year!
We are walking as a team to raise funds for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN), the only national advocacy organization devoted to advancing bladder cancer research and supporting those impacted by the disease. By making a donation to our team, you will be helping BCAN promote bladder cancer research, education and support programs – but, most importantly, to save lives.
- Bladder cancer is the sixth-most diagnosed cancer in the United States.
